Any movement can enact change. Will the Radical Leftist Scum movement change intact? With the rise of fascism in America, it is hard to tell. Trump is enabling ICE to act as a Gestapo-like police force, which was seen during the NAZI rule in Germany. This means they are a secret police force and are rounding up adversaries of the Trump administration. This is a dangerous game, and since Trump was elected, protests have triggered changes like the removal of the national guard from cities and the protest in Los Angeles that erupted during ICE raids. We have not seen riots as of yet, but time will tell with the ever-increasing presence of ICE. There will be a boiling point at which the liquids rise above the pot, but when will that be? Sociologists argue that riots are a symptom of a breakdown in order and community. People are tired of what the Trump administration is doing, and some even on the right can say for sure that the murder of Renee Good is precisely that, murder. ICE has not only shot and killed Renee but also plenty of others in their custody. When will the bloodshed stop? When will we see freedom in the home of the brave, land of the free?

Movements start all the time, some local, some state, and some national. During the height of the BLM movement in 2020, it became international. The Radical Leftist scum movement is gaining international hold on social media. Many are flocking to platforms like Threads and X to share that they are part of the RLS movement and want change, including regime change, in the United States.

Have you ever joined a movement? If so, why? People join movements of shared interest and anger most of the time. We saw solidarity during many movements like Free Palestine, which is still ongoing, and the MeToo movement. People joined because they saw community and a means of power to liberate and bring justice to the corrupt conditions that allowed harm to people. Movements start right with your friends. Let them know your goals and the mission of a cause you want to begin, and get the people nearby on board first. Have your closest supporters, because if it grows to levels seen in recent movements, you need those who care about you to offer support, since it will be an emotional and taxing ride to manage what comes from being someone in the public eye. We have seen movements since this country was founded. The American Revolution was a movement that began with recruiting people and spreading the message that the corrupt British government was harming the citizens of the colonies. As you can see, our country was founded on the right to protest and make change, so why are the conservatives calling progressive folk names when they are exercising their rights?

The movement we can all agree on is that everyone deserves safety and human rights, including affordable housing, universal childcare, affordable and universal healthcare, reproductive rights, and much more. Our constitution is outdated, and movements can change that. More and more Americans are suffering each day at the hands of a corrupt president, who, mind you, has been convicted of 34 felonies but boasts of being part of law and order.

Renee Good did not deserve to be murdered. We all saw the videos and clips. This was murder. Since then, protests have begun across multiple states, showing growth; the people will not back down to a tyrannical government. We must all stand together; this isn’t a right or left issue because, at the end of the day, this regime will eventually come for the right as people begin disagreeing with the government. Our current government has no respect for the Constitution of the United States. We are already seeing the corrupt government restrict aid to “blue” states, which also harms its voters, since there is no state that has voted all blue. If a state and everyone in it voted blue, I would move there in the blink of an eye, but such a place does not exist. This article is about movements, but it is important to have context for the Radical Leftist Scum movement.

The movement began when Donald Trump, on Christmas Day 2025, called democrats Radical Leftist scum. In the actual picture of being a leftist, Democrats fall in the category of liberal and, in fact, are not leftist. Leftists are those who follow the principles of socialism, communism, and democratic socialism. The irony of Trump not knowing the difference is sometimes hilarious for me as a Democratic Socialist. For many who do not know, the forefront of every movement for progressive values usually starts with someone who is a leftist, but begins being co-opted by the masses. Since then, there have been over 20 million posts on social media about the RLS movement, and millions of people proclaiming they are RLS.

What does the Radical Leftist Scum movement mean? The short answer means solidarity if organized actions do not occur. We are seeing a rise in protests and anger, triggering backlash against the current administration, but will legislators act to pass laws protecting those who voted for them to be in power? Often, they do not and stick to the status quo of wealthy donors who are capitalists and exploit workers through low wages and wage theft.

What can you do? You can begin by finding your nearest mutual aid organization and learning what mutual aid is. A good book to start learning is Mutual Aid by Dean Spade. I have gifted this book to a few people, and it has shed light on what is happening. A popular saying from Dean Spade I enjoy is “Shit is totally fucked”. It is true, we have slipped so far from the purpose of our country and “freedom” that we do not have a clear momentum to enable change. Organizations like the Democratic Socialists of America are great to join because they teach you how to organize and have chapters in every state. Attend a national organization call and participate as a member. It is more critical now than ever to begin organizing. Run for office in your local elections, starting with your community. In the 2024 election cycle, DSA elected the most socialist candidates it has ever elected, thanks to effective organizing. Getting your community on board, but you need the skills to grow it. Learn everything you can and give yourself grace when you fall short of expectations. The popular saying “Rome wasn’t built overnight” is true in this instance. Although some movements reach overnight success, it is rare; it usually begins with a lot of planning and small actions. Movements that form overnight often lose momentum because there is no continuous organizing to keep actions going.

6. Sustain the movement

   1. Establish a culture that is healthy and flexible to change as time goes on

   2. Delegate and step aside by giving organizers tasks to sustain and alleviate some pressure and stress on yourself

   3. Plan logistics for protests and research laws so you can obtain permits if needed.

Planning a movement takes a lot of work, and for as long as time has existed, they have occurred. Today is three days post the murder of Renee Good, and protests have occurred every day since then. This is the beginning of the movement, but local organizers must start building the infrastructure to sustain it. Politicians on the right have argued that the ICE agent had PTSD from a previous encoutered when he war dragged by a “suspect”. The facts are that he chose to hold onto the car instea dof letting go when this person ICE tried to capture began driving away. Since then people online have leaked Jonathan Ross’s information and people have begun protesting outside of his house. Jonathan Ross after the violent murder of Renee Good got into a personal car and drove from the scene. Personal cars are not allowed for ICE agents under the current Trump administration mandates. Jonathan has been in the Han Ross served as a deportation officer of the St. Paul field office since 2015. Having PTSD is not grounds for murder justification. As seen in many court cases in the United States Judicial System.
